Its A....

Our baby's first picture...
We had the ultrasound. Unfortunately since our MD office only has a sonographer and not a radiologist we don't know that everything is okay with our bundle but the sonographer didn't make any audible gasps so hopefully everything is okay. We should know the results for sure at our next appt. We do know the baby weighs approx 13 oz (just under a pound and right where it should be) and the sonographer thinks the due date will be more around April 2nd rather than the 10th, so we'll see. We do know what it is though! We will tell everyone at Thanksgiving and if I won't see you at Thanksgiving check back that day or the day after and I'll post it. We had a great time watching the baby move around and seeing those little hands and feet. Elijah mostly loved hearing the heartbeat. We also had a great time at the Greek Festival! Such good food. I made sure to bring home a box of Baklava!! (No telling why I've already gained 20 lbs!!!!) I'm going to be a beast! Anyway, thanks for your prayers today. We've been invited to dinner at Gary and Aimee's so we're once again on the way out the door. Later!

Aimee to the Rescue!!

This week Aimee kept Elijah 3 days in a row!! I think, when I picked Elijah up on Wednesday, I heard him call her Mama! Anyway, she is such a good friend and its nice to have some one we can take advantage of...I mean....rely on! HA! She took some really cute pics of the boys...

Waving bye to big trucks...

Grant and Elijah love each other! We're on our way out the door to the ultrasound!! Scroll down if you haven't seen all my latest posts. Bye

We're still here...

Sorry its been a while since I blogged. We've been really busy. I worked Friday, we had a banquet Saturday, gone all day Sunday, I worked Mon and Tues, I taught a CPR class this morning and then here we are. (scroll down for all the blogs about that stuff). We have a couple more busy days ahead of us. We're (Elijah and I) are going to MOMS club recipe exchange in the morning. Elijah LOVES playing with all the kids. Then Friday is our ultrasound and dr appt then if the weather permits we're going to the Greek Festival!! I'm so excited. We LOVE Greek food. Even Elijah loves it. His favorite is Hummus. He just eats and eats it. Saturday I have to work, but hope to get off early to go to a wedding for one of the old youth group girls. Sunday we have a wedding shower, I work Monday and Tuesday then we are off for Thanksgiving!! Whew! That's a lot! And that's only the big stuff, not counting the day to day stuff that happens with a 2 year old!

Anyway, one thing I am asking for are prayers. We will be having our ultrasound on Friday morning. While we're really excited about hopefully finding out if we're having a little boy or girl it is also a diagnostic ultrasound. Since Beau and I choose to forgo genetic testing early in pregnancy (testing that would tell us if our baby has Downs or other genetic disorders allowing us to have a legal abortion) this would be the time we may find out something is wrong with our little baby. Please be in prayer that everything is well with this baby. We will be in our ultrasound at 10 am on Friday if you would petition the Lord on our behalf. We would greatly appreciate it.

Side note: Elijah wanted popcorn for his snack today. He just walked up and asked for more "pine cone"! Ha!

My little dude...

I am big on eye protection from the sun. Luckily Elijah likes to wear the sunglasses I got for him. Sunday afternoon I took him to the kids' devo at the park. This is what he looked like (it was cold)...
All the kids were out on the field playing football...

This is the look Elijah makes when you tell him he can't do something. I just told him he can't go out on the field with the kids yet...

He finally got his turn though...

Lindsey and Elijah (he calls her Enz)...

All Fancied Up...

Saturday night Beau and I got to attend the Medina Children's Home Fundraising Banquet. We went last year and had a great time. Its so much fun to get all dressed up (especially when you wear scrubs every day) and go eat a big fancy dinner. It was 4 courses and I polished off every one of them! The speaker was great, it was the real man behind the movie The Rookie. He was a great speaker, very entertaining. Before dinner was a silent auction. I bid on a few items, but got way outbid by the end. Just to give an example about how these people bid...a Colt McCoy autographed football went for $650!! The only problem I had all night was that there were two standing ovations and I couldn't stand because I had to unbutton and unzip my pants!! I really need to go get some maternity pants!! Ha Anyway, look how good we look...

Watch out Rachael Ray

Last week Elijah helped me make cornbread. He loves to help...

Notice the Big Brother button. A patient gave it to me to give to Elijah. He loves it. He always wants to wear it. He'll bring it to me and say "Button on, please"...

Rain Rain Go Away

I don't know if its been raining where you are, but its been raining here almost non-stop since Sunday night. That is bad news when you have a 2 year old. Yesterday he really wanted to go outside. It finally quit raining and so I put him down for a nap and told him when he wakes up we'll go for a walk. A few hours later I go in to get him from his nap. He looks up at me and says "walk Mama". Sometimes I forget how good his memory is. I asked him if we could wake up a little first, he said no. I asked him if we could snuggle in mom's chair for a little while first, he said no. I gave in.
Me: "okay, Elijah, you have to get dressed to go on a walk. Where are your clothes?"
Elijah: "in the doors" and he runs to his room
I'm thinking - what are the doors? I follow him to his room and he is standing at his closet doors.
Elijah: "open the doors, Mama!"
Now I get it. I tell him its a closet and open the door. He points to his clothes.
Me: "we need to put some pants on"
Elijah: "these" (he points to a folded stack of pants)
Me: "okay lets put on these" I take out a pair of sweat pants
Elijah: "no, Mama, these" he points to a pair of camo's
I not being a fan of camo's take out the sweat pants and try to get him to put them on - totally ignoring the camo's.
Elijah: "NO, MAMA, THESE!"
I give in.
He puts them on so happy. I get a shirt. I tell him to put on his shoes (brown hiking boot looking shoes).
Elijah: "no Mama, these" he goes and puts on his black crocs. Probably too small, but I think he likes them because he can put them on himself.
So for the first time Elijah picked out his own outfit and ended up proving he has his father's sense of fashion...

We went for our first walk sans stroller. It wasn't far and it took longer than usual. We did see some cool stuff along the way. One very exciting discovery...a bucket truck...

And a very cool road work ahead sign. Elijah ran over to it, turned to me and actually smiled and said cheese. A very rare occurrence...

We found some pine cones. Very cool. Side note: he wants to read his Alaska books every night and one of them has a picture of a porcupine. He's been working very hard to say porcupine. Well every time he tried to say "pine cone" on the walk he would accidentally say porcupine, then look confused and say "no, pine cone" Very cute...

On our walk we passed Carol's house. (she is the church secretary and Elijah loves her) When he realized we were leaving her street he stopped walking and kept saying, "Carol's house" I would tell him no we can't go to Carol's house and he would say, "Carol busy", but he still didn't want to leave her street...

Elijah ignoring me when I tell him we have to go...

Then he noticed "a plane in the clouds" and we were off...
It was a very interesting walk. I wish our neighborhood had less traffic and we could do it this way more often.

Isn't this how it always happens....

So I asked Beau yesterday if I could have the day to myself today to get some errands/shopping done. He said yes, but it would have to be the morning because he had a appointment at noon. So I got up early, ate breakfast and was out the door by 8:30am. Here was my list of things to do:

1. Go to new Maternity Resale shop in Clear lake to look for black pants, jeans and a white belly band.

2. Go to Mall: Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Gymborie, Motherhood, Hallmark, and Penny's.

3. Go to Target

4. Get milk, eggs, avocado (the three things Elijah and I eat the most of and therefore are always out of) and stamps at HEB.

I drove, first, to the resale shop since it was out of the way of everything else and if I found some things there I could skip a few places at the mall. I arrived at just before 9am. It doesn't open until 10am! Of course it doesn't. I walk around the shopping center to Half Priced books where I find a Christmas present for someone and a new Veggie Tales CD for Elijah for the car. I walk back to the resale shop. Its only 9:30am. I am upset because I know if I leave this area of town and drive to the mall it totally negates the whole plan (and if you know me I always have a plan). I decide its the only thing to do.

I drive a few mins to the mall. I park outside Macy's. CLOSED UNTIL 10AM!! Why wouldn't it be? Luckily the mall itself is open so I can at least have some air conditioning (its hot here today). So I am forced to sit in the mall waiting for any stores to open and smelling Cinnabon for 15 minutes!! I am getting more and more frustrated because I am wasting precious time and I am having to smell that goodness without getting one. Why can't I get one you ask? Because I am turning into a beast!

Side note to explain: I wasn't as sick with this child as with Elijah and I wasn't able to have sugar without getting sick with Elijah for most of my pregnancy. Since I don't have that problem this time I have already gained about 15 lbs!! Are you kidding me!! So I try to have some self control (and save money - since we're about to go 3 months without my income) and not buy a freaking cinnamon roll and NO STORES WILL OPEN.

Okay, I've calmed back down now...

I get done with Macy's, Victoria's Secret, Penny's and Gymborie with a few finds. I am on my way to Motherhood and dying of thirst (and a little hungry). I'll stop at Jamba Juice for a smoothie!! Perfect idea. Its healthy, its fulfilling, its right by Gymborie...perfect. I get there...closed!! Like closed...forever. I totally was jonesing for a smoothing and the one place in the mall that sells them is gone. UGH! On to Motherhood. I find some black pants...too short...I find some jeans...too long! I leave frustrated.

I finish at the mall and am on my way to meet Beau. Since it has taken me longer than expected I am meeting Beau close to his meeting where there is a Target and a HEB. That's fine. I get Elijah, go to Target. Can't do all I need because we are both hungry. We leave, eat and go to HEB. I get my few staples, check out, tell the checker I need 2 books of stamps. "Oh, Ma'am, I'm sorry, I am all out of stamps. You'll have to go to the business center for some." Okay, I go to the business center and the line is a mile long of people trying to cash their pay checks. GET A BANK, PEOPLE!!! By the time I finish I have to race home to babysit Grant.

I didn't get everything done and it wasn't near as relaxing as I was wanting it to be, but hey...what is.

Now the two boys are sleeping and I have a few minutes to myself again.

Trunk or Treat

Beau, Elijah and I attended our Trunk or Treat last night. We went as the 50's. Beau was a nerd, Elijah was the cool dude and I ended up looking like a knocked-up cheerleader. I wish I could have taken a better pic of Elijah's hair, it really made the costume. It was all slicked with gel and then he had this one curl down on his forehead. He was a hit...

"Now can I go into the bouncy castle?"

Elijah LOVED the bouncy castle...

Elijah and Maddie bouncing around...
I tore him away from the castle for just a few minutes to actually trick or treat, even though I had to drag him back to the cars after each one...

He got pretty good at saying "trick or treat" and he always said thank you afterwards...

Fishing for candy...

Beau was at our truck. We had a bean bag toss...

He attempted...

Then figured out he needed to get a lot closer to get it...

We were even visited by the candidates...

Elijah loved carrying around his bucket...

I had to carry him to the car crying because he wanted to go back to the bouncy castle. Then I put him to bed crying because he wanted to sleep with his candy bucket. He has carried around the bucket of candy all day. He empties it out, lines up the candy, sorts it, counts it, and puts it back in the bucket. I don't know why he's so fascinated with it...he hasn't even tasted one piece of candy. He hasn't even asked to eat any which makes me think he doesn't even know what it is. Its just something he can carry around in a bucket and then line up the pieces. Too funny.
