My Kite Runner

These first few pictures have no relevance to this post at all. I just keep getting comments that Sadie must be unhappy because she never smiles. I got the same responses about Elijah, they both have the same "concentrated" look on their face. Anyway, proof that she is happy (sometimes)...

Don't you just love those beavers!...

And if you have more than one child you know you can't do something with one and not the other...

Saturday we took the kids to Rosebud. We took along the kite I got Elijah for Easter. He did not want to fly the kite! We have an Elmo book he likes to read. It is about Elmo flying his kite and it takes off with him. It takes him to space and all over the earth. Well, Elijah didn't want the kite to fly away with him. It was so sad and funny all at the same time!...

We finally got him talked into it and he was having a great time...

Sadie was just watching it fly around...

Then the string snapped sending the kite far far away into a creek...

I felt so bad for him, but this face is just so precious. He is the most sensitive person I know!!...

On our way to try and retrieve the kite (which didn't happen) we were able to make the day a little better by feeding Mr Ed and Dinky here...(I don't know their real names but those are the only horse and donkey names I know).

Good friends, good food, good times

Yesterday my friend Andrea (friend from ACU) came to visit. She's been in town all week visiting her sister who just moved to town. We had a great lunch and fun just visiting.

Lunch. Elijah, Heidi, Sadie, Alyssa. (not pictured: Laurie, Andrea, Jonah and me). I think Sadie is toasting Heidi...

Jonah wasn't able to sit at the table with us, but was still close by...

Elijah and Heidi...

I asked Heidi what they were doing. She said, "We're being silly together!"...

This is Alyssa (Andrea's niece) who turns 1 on Wednesday. Notice she's walking all over the place (and has been for months) and notice what my daughter is doing!...

Elijah LOVES kids, especially babies. He kept coming over to Jonah to make sure he didn't feel left out...

The day proved to be a little much for Jonah...

Our attempt at group picture. Heidi's eyes are closed, but I'm impressed everyone was looking at the camera!!

We had a great time!! We hope you come back soon!

Its just good parenting.

Whoever said that TV is bad either 1) doesn't have kids 2) doesn't have PBS...

I get 20 minutes of peace to cook dinner and my kids learn about the letter S. They learn and I keep my sanity...everyone comes out a winner.
Aimee and Mandy, I know you are blowing these pictures up trying to see every little thing about the house that you possibly can. I promise...before and after pictures are coming soon.
I'm off to bed (working tomorrow) then Friday morning I'll be spending my morning and lunch at the spa!! Using part of my gift card from Beau. So excited!!!

Sadie's 1st Birthday Bash

Saturday we had Sadie's birthday party. We decided to wait a week since her birthday was on Easter. We also decided to wait a week so we could have it at the new house. We had a great time. We have always loved to be able to entertain at our home and its been so long since we've been able to. It was so nice. The party was all about bunnies, flowers and butterflies...

On this table we had pink lemonade, fruit kabobs and yogurt, meat, cheese, crackers and dip...

The fruit kabobs were really good (notice the butterfly at the top)...

The other table in the dining room...

The flower cupcakes...

Brownie gardens...

Katy and Sadie (they love each other)...

My favorite part. Everyone having fun in the yard...

A little photo shoot before singing "Happy Birthday"...

Stripping down for a cupcake...

Sadie and Brooklyn...

She didn't really want to eat any of it...

Time for presents...

Her gift from me and Beau...

Sadie and her first love...

Such a great day. Thank you so much to everyone who came. A HUGE thank you to my mom who came in on Friday to help me get ready. There's absolutely no way I could have gotten it done without you. Thank you, Beau, for being at my every beck and call and doing whatever I ask when I want to throw these parties. You are a great husband and an amazing dad. You make our lives easy and we love you! To my Sadie, you are a joy, I love you so much.

"I'm ready for my close-up"

This past Wednesday we all drove 45 minutes to the nearest Portrait Innovations to have pictures made. We were excited to learn that they will finally be opening one in our town. They aren't the most artistic pictures, but man are they cheap. And you leave with your pictures!!! We had a great time.

When Elijah turned 1 we took our first family photo. So we decided to wait to get another one until Sadie turned 1...

My angel baby...

We didn't get these next pictures, but we have the CD. He is so grown up...

This is her mischievous look...

Another attempt that we didn't like as much...

This is the tutu I made for her newborn pictures. I extended it so she could wear it again. Maybe that can be a tradition. When she's 45 do you think she'll still let me take her picture in it?

So. Cute.

There is no possible way to not love this child (trust me...I've tried to stay mad at her around about 3 am)...

We sat a cake down in front of her and tried to get her to dig in. This was her first response...

But she came around...

And I just had to get this one...
