Memorial Day

Beau was planting some new flowers in the front yard and needed to water (its so dry in Houston) so we let Elijah play in the sprinkler. He wasn't sure about it, but had fun once he figured it out. He would scream while he ran to it then turn around and run back.

The Spencers and both Scogins came over for lunch. We ate fajitas outside and then sat around and heard all the interesting stories from the "big" Scogin's trip to China. After everyone left I looked at Beau and said "we didn't take a single picture"! I was so upset. I thought about calling everyone to come back, but oh well. We were having so much fun together time just slipped away.

If I've asked you once....

If you leave a comment would you PLEASE sign it. I get comments and have no idea who they came from. I want to make sure we don't have a stalker out there somewhere leaving comments. Anyway, I am at work (don't tell my boss). Hopefully I'll get off soon. Beau is working with the kids and Elijah is at Bibby and John's - living the good life, I'm sure. We have a lot to do this weekend to get ready for our BBQue with the Scogins/Spencers and getting ready to leave for VACATION!!!

Its so funny trying to explain to people that our first family vacation is to Abilene, Tx. I finally started saying, "its not so much about where we're going as what we're doing". We're super excited, though. Please say a prayer for 1) our safety 2) our sanity - please let Elijah sleep while we're gone 3) our bank account - gas was $3.80 this morning and we are driving all over the state!!

I don't know yet if I'll be able to update you live from vacation, if not I'll see you in a little over a week!!

Elijah and Grant

Yesterday I went shopping and Aimee and Grant came with me. We had a good time and I got a couple new things. At first I was feeling shopper's guilt for being out spending money on myself then a few stores into it I thought, "you know, you're supposed to reward yourself with new clothes for loosing a lot of weight and that's the reason I'm shopping". I have lost about 15 lbs and none of my pants fit anymore!!
Then, we were walking thru the mall and I saw an Indian lady "threading" eyebrows. I have been wanting to try it for a long time. I found a little salon that did it, but every time I went by the one girl who knows how was gone. The last time I went by they said she didn't work there anymore. Probably because she was never there!! So, I was really excited that I found some one doing it. It was at a little Kiosk out in the middle of an atrium. Aimee went off to feed Grant and I sat down to get my eyebrows threaded. Now what she does is have you cover your eye with one hand, then use the other hand on your forehead to pull your skin taunt. She takes thread and some how twists it and plucks out about 10 hairs at a time. I'm not ashamed to say that I was yelling very loudly and had to try very hard to keep from screaming curses on her children and their children. At one point I heard a lady come up and ask if it really hurts. If I hadn't been passed out from the pain I would have slapped her. Was I yelling because it felt so good!!?? She told me I may want to keep it down, I was drawing a crowd. I didn't care, I just kept asking the old Indian lady if I was bleeding. She switched to the other side and continued to comment on my incredibly "weird" eyebrows - I do have weird eyebrows - ask me some other time to explain. At one point I flinched and she yelled at me because it was going to mess up "the line". She kept having to stop because she was laughing at me because now my feet were straight up in the air. When she finished she asked it I wanted her to take care of this (pointing to her upper lip). I said heck no, I'm content with my stache!! She told me I should come back in 2-3 weeks and it won't be so bad because the first time is the worst. All I know is its been almost 24 hours and my eyebrows are still sore.

Anyway, when we got home Aimee and Grant came in to hang out a while and we woke Ligy up from his nap. The boys had a great time watching Diego (well, Grant seemed nervous and Elijah just wanted us to move out of the way of the tv).

Side note:

Please post a comment and reassure me that I don't need to be worried by what you're about to see...

Thanks Jannie

Jannie sent Elijah this Panda Bear stool. If any of you don't know Jannie thinks I am obsessed with Panda bears. So not true, its almost become a family joke that she gets me anything Panda she finds. Now it has progressed on to my child. If anyone knows of a "I buy too much Panda stuff Rehabilitation Center" please let me know. We may need an intervention to get Jannie into rehab, but in the long run it may save her lots of money!!! Ha!! We love you Jannie. If you want to know if Elijah likes it or not just scroll down...

Kissing the Panda...

Just a side note, this is what happens when you ask Elijah where his teeth are...

Oh, and side note number 2: We will no longer be visiting Juju!! She was set on teaching Elijah bad habits while she was here this weekend. She was constantly encouraging him to say "mine". Now if we try to take anything away from him or keep him from messing with something he yells, "no...mine!!!" It was cute the first 24 times... I tried telling him nothing in this house is his, everything is mine and Beau's and the only things he has is what I give him (that's what my mom always told me) he doesn't seem to understand or care (which is how I felt when my mom told me). Hmmm...what goes around comes around huh?

Another Juju teaching...she taught him to say "sure". He never really said it when they were here, but Sunday morning when he got to his Bible class his teacher said, "Good morning Elijah, would you like to play with Noah's Ark?" Elijah looked up at her and said, "Sure!!" Too cute!

Our Weekend with Juju and Pawpaw

My mom and dad drove in on Friday afternoon. We had wonderful weather. We ate outside Friday night in our new and improved back-yard (pics coming soon, just need to finish a few things). Saturday the weather was so nice we wanted to do something outside. We decided to stroll the Strand in Galveston. It was actually so cool that my mom and I had to wear cardigans and I even had a hot coffee while we shopped!! In May...in Houston....I know!!! Anyway...

Elijah loved seeing the horses walk by. He would yell out (in their language) "NAY"!!

"Hey Papa, you gotta see this!"

"This is a horse, it says Nay"

Later that night he was starting in on the OCD again...

When we got home dad went to "get gas" and surprised us all by coming home with a swing set for Ligy. Apparently all boys need a swing set. He and Beau worked on it all evening (and into the night with flashlights) to get it ready for Elijah. He doesn't quite understand how to hold his balance on the swing yet so we attached his toddler swing for now. Thanks Pawpaw!! I see lots of fun memories being made in our future!

This morning, after church, we had a potluck luncheon for our HS grad. This was the dessert I made. I thought it was pretty cute. One lady saw me leaving with it, empty, and said "That was dessert!! I thought it was part of the decoration for the dessert table!!" The kids got a kick out of it. They all walked around saying "I have a cup of dirt!" "I'm eating dirt!"
Now I'm off to finish the laundry and start our week. I have a lot to do to get ready for our vacation!!! So excited!!

Mother's Day

On Sunday morning (Mother's day) I woke up to my boys bringing me breakfast in bed. Beau had everything arranged on a tray, I sat up in bed, he sat the tray in front of me, Elijah crawled up on the bed, sat on my lap, pulled the tray in front of him, picked up my fork, started eating my omelet, then drank my milk! Welcome to Motherhood!! Ha! It was pretty funny, I have to admit.

After church we went to John and Bibby's for lunch. We had a great time, as usual. Here are some pics...

Future musician? Maybe we should start piano lessons!!

Family portrait. Elijah is frowning because we're keeping him from putting his hands in his mouth.

We were all standing outside talking and look over to see this (more OCD)...

"These are my bunnies"

"This one's the Mama"

Too cute...
