Memorial Day 2010

As you already know, we had our friends Aimee, Gary, Grant and Grayson over for the Memorial Day Weekend and Holiday. We had a great time! Here are a TON of pics!

I bought Grant and Elijah their own table so we could have room for everyone. They loved it. I wish it actually was a plain wooden table and I wish there were more chairs, but oh well. Here are Elijah and Sadie trying it out before our company arrived...

I caught the guys (minus Beau, who had a meeting) wrestling...

Then they moved on to Hide and Seek (Gary is seeking)...

We sat up the pool for the kids on Monday. All the kids loved it (except Grayson who, I'm sure was sleeping).
Grant...

Elijah...

Sadie...

I bought a watermelon on Saturday and Elijah jkept asking if we could eat it. By Monday he was dying to dig into it. He loved it! We all did.

I realize, after looking at this pic, where Elijah gets his "cheese" face from every time I try to take his picture!

Grayson was actually awake!!

I went and got Sadie up from a nap. She wasn't sure about all this watermelon hype...

But she came around...
Sadie kept trying to give Grayson toys. I think she was afraid he'd get bored. She's a great hostess in the making...
While everyone was enjoying the back yard Beau and I did a little gardening projects we needed to finish. We got the herb garden up and running...
Mmmm. Can't wait to start cooking!
Then Beau put together my huge hanging basket my mom got me. Its hanging from a huge oak tree in the front yard...

Now we move on to the Sadie portion of the show. Aimee had my camera. She told me later "I think I could take pictures of Sadie all day" Here are a FEW of the ones she took...

I could stare at this picture for the rest of the day...

Seriously!!

Girls (and Elijah) just wanna have fun

We are really enjoying being so close to our family. Saturday we found out Brad and Amy were in town and we had a few hours before our company was showing up so we loaded up the kids and went to Rosebud for lunch and fun in the sun.

The girls were looking super cute...

I love the way Sadie is looking up to Brooklyn ("You are so cool")...

Elijah beat the girls to the pool...

Loving it...

Amy got Brooklyn and Elijah pouring water on each other. Elijah's turn...

Amy helping Brooklyn get a turn in...

Sadie went and got Mamaw...

"Come get in the pool, Mamaw!"...

Be Our Guest, Be Our Guest...

Are you singing the Beauty and the Beast song? You should be! Well, Beau and I keep hosting things in the new home because it spurs us on to get things finished. This past weekend our Scogins came to visit (pics of that to come soon). We wanted them to have a nice comfortable guest room so we've been working hard to get that done (well, I've worked hard and Beau has helped. Ha!) I think its quite a transformation. Aimee tells me my pics don't do justice of the "afters" in the house so I think the only thing to do is for you to come and see it in person...and now you have somewhere to sleep!

The guest room before. Loving the vertical blinds!...

The guest room after...

Quite the transformation!!

The guest bath before...

The guest bathroom after...

Aren't you loving the light fixture!!

I think it turned out really well. Gary even said its the most comfortable bed he's ever slept in...he offered us money for it. So with all that said...when are you coming?

Day Trip Road Trip

Last week Beau needed to go check out a park outside Austin where he's taking the JH kids camping next week. He asked if we just wanted to make it a Family Day Trip. I thought by "outside Austin" he meant it would be an hour, hour and a half tops drive and even though that long of a trip is taxing to me I agreed. It took just over 2 hours to get to our first destination!! We had fun anyway, though.

While I was packing all our stuff up that morning Sadie came to me with a bag of pretzels. I said "No" and she turned and walked off. A few minutes later I heard her in our room crinkling plastic. I figured she was trying to get into the bag. I walked in and found this...

"I told you I needed a snack."...

"I fooled you!!"...

"Mmmmm"...

Sadie what do you think about this road trip idea?...

Just kidding...

Elijah does very well in the car...

But still wanted to do a silly face...

When we got to the state park the first thing we did is let the kids play on the playground...

Then we sat down for a picnic...
Sadie asked me if I liked "see food"...

Elijah was loving all the Lady Bugs...

Sadie loved the swings...

There was a family of geese we watched...

We left the state park and drove closer to Austin to Barton Springs to swim. When we'd watched the weather it said the high was going to be 90 degrees. It never got above 78 degrees and the water in Barton Springs is 68 degrees year 'round. So it was frigid!!

Elijah would only stay on the ramp and play...

After Barton Springs we drove to Roundrock. We love to watch Man VS Food and Diners, Drive ins and Dives. There are two places we've wanted to go because of those shows. One was Roundrock Donuts where they have the larges donut in Texas, America, the world...I don't remember. We didn't get that, but we did get a box of assorted donuts for our dessert on the way home.
They are so popular that they leave their drive thru open until 8pm. This is how far back we were in line when we drove up at 5:30 pm...

For dinner we went to The Salt Lick for bbq. It was really good. All in all it was a much longer day than we planned, but we had a great time spending the day together.
