Zoo Fun

Tuesday we took a trip to the Houston Zoo with MOM's club. There were only about 5 moms and 7 kids. It was miserably humid! Oh man was it soupy! We got there at 9:30am and immediately we were drenched with sweat. Oh yeah, and the power was out! And we didn't even get a discount. All the concession stands were closed (good thing we were with a group of frugal stay-at-home moms and had all packed snacks, water and lunch) the indoor exhibits were closed (we had been counting on going into those places to cool down), and the carousel and train weren't running! All that to say our stay was shortened, but we still had fun.

Elijah and Amory looking at the "Cocks" (that's Elijah's word for "Hawks" but also goes for Parrots and other large, winged creatures)...

The kids all wanted to hold hands (Elijah loved it!). Ian, Elijah, Amory and Priscilla...

Sadie would have much rather walked, but she was stuck in the stroller...

Me and Elijah posing on the Seal

Elijah was really excited to see the Giraffes. He kept yelling, "Hi Melvin!!" (If you watch "Gascar" or Madagascar as its usually referred to you know what he's talking about)...
Then I caught him trying to "go play with Melvin" so he said...
After lunch we let Grant and Elijah put on their suits and play in the water to cool off before heading home...

Aimee kept having to tell Elijah not to drink the water!
Elijah loves the Zoo. Maybe we should get a membership!

Busy Weekend!

We had a busy weekend. Thursday the girls came over for Freezer Fun. Here are some pics I stole from Jen's blog (Beau had my camera to take pics of my car).

Sadie was the only child invited. Partly because I have to nurse her and partly because it was my house and I make the rules! Ha! Just kidding. She slept almost the whole time.

Aimee de-boning chicken (which she may never do again). I have been having to keep this a secret for weeks, but now I can finally tell....Aimee's pregnant!! Maybe she'll have a girl and they can be roomies at ACU!!

Melissa stuffing shells (she may never do this again either)...

Friday we left for Rosebud. I did a horrible job of taking pictures. I stole some from Janice, though. Saturday Elijah got to go to the Temple Train Depot - Whistle Stop. He loved it!

He also got to play at the park...

Beau and Brooklyn playing Peek-a-Boo...

Mimi and Elijah watering the plants...

Taking time for a sip...

Mimi and Pepaw got a sprinkler to play with. It was a hit...

Everyone watching Elijah...always the center of attention.

Even Max was watching him...

Sorry its blurry...

We went to the zoo again yesterday...I'll try to post about that tomorrow. We have an extremely busy weekend coming up so I'll have a lot to post about, but it may take me a while. More later

No Good, Very Bad Day

Well yesterday started off good. The kids and I went to MOM's club, grocery shopping with Aimee and Grant, then met Beau and the youth group for lunch (Vietnamese food). The kids and I headed home for naps. We were almost home, driving down Mustang and all the sudden a car on a side road turns out in front of me. I had just enough time to think "I'm going to hit this guy" BAM!! I closed my eyes while the airbags exploded and opened them just in time to hit the curb and hit the breaks before jumping the curb. It was raining. I was trying to look for my phone, but couldn't find it. I couldn't even remember where I last had it. I looked in the backseat to see if the kids were okay. Elijah was crying and asking what happened. I was trying not to panic and wanted to keep him calm so I said "Its okay, the balloons just came out of Mom's car, did you see them?" That got his mind on the "balloons" (airbags). I got out and was sliding around in the mud yelling to people driving down the road that I needed a phone. No one would pull over. I ran to the passenger side and after a couple attempts to get the door open I looked all thru the floor board for my phone, no luck, but left over Singapore Noodles were everywhere. I tried again to get some one to pull over, finally one lady did. I ran back to my driver side and found my phone up under the gas pedal. I called 911, checked on the kids again. It was raining again now so I got back in the car. A woman walked up and said she thought we should get out because smoke was coming out from under my hood. I got the kids out. There we are standing in the rain, Elijah crying, we're muddy, Sadie screaming, mosquitoes swarming. To keep Elijah from getting more upset I tried to act really excited and told Elijah, "you're going to get to see a police car and and ambulance!! Isn't that exciting!" Then I see my neighbor coming, she pulled up and threw the kids in the car. The police finally get there, check out the kids, Beau gets there. We spent a while longer with the police then finally got to go. Here are a few pics Beau got today for me at the wreck yard...

I held it together until the wrecker loaded the car and we started driving home. I could see that Elijah's door was crushed in and it just hit me that had either of us been going much faster my precious boy could have been hurt or I could have lost him. I was crying and that really worried Elijah. We were home just a minute later. Elijah and I got out and I told Elijah we were going to get in the shower to wash off all the mud. He started patting my leg and saying, "yeah Mommy, we'll take a shower and you'll feel better, don't cry Mommy." In the shower he was washing the mud off my legs and feet and saying, "see Mommy, you feel better, don't cry Mommy, you feel better." It was so sweet. I love my son SOOO much.

We got home and the kids slept for hours. I tried to sleep but my head was reeling. The kids all seemed fine, my forearm was burned from the airbag, but all seemed okay. However this morning when I woke up to feed Sadie at 4am it was a different story. I am so sore. I have just gotten more sore throughout the day. My neck, back, shoulder, chest and left foot (of all things!) hurt. According to my dad it'll probably just get worse over the next few days. Oh well, it could have been SOOO much worse. It was my first wreck and I was only going 30 mph (if that). I can't image if we had been going faster. I just praise God my babies are okay!
Today we had our Freezer Fun party. It was me, Aimee, Jennifer, and Melissa. We all left with 6 freezer bags of meals!! (Plus 6 for Courtney who had the audacity to have her baby instead of coming to our party!!) We worked hard! We had a good time.
We're off to Rosebud tomorrow after Sadie's two month check up (and shots). More later.

Fun in the Sun

We took the morning off to spend some time at the beach. We have really been wanting to take Elijah back (he hadn't been in almost 2 years!). It just so happened the Scogin clan was wanting to go as well so we just went together. It was really cloudy and rainy (it never rained on us) so it made for perfect weather. We took an awning so we could have some shade and it was just great. I'm not much of a beach person so for me to say it was good it was really good. I've never liked it because going to the beach usually means its hot outside (which I hate) so you're sweating and the sand just sticks to you. I cannot seem to spend more than a few minutes outside without burning (even with sunscreen). On top of that I don't thing its an "adventure" to continue finding sand days later lodged in placed you didn't think sand could get! Another thing I hate about the beaches in Galveston are Port-a-Potties! We drove all the way down to the West Beach because we knew there were pavilions with nice restrooms there. When we got there we find it destroyed by the hurricane!! Grrr! For some one who has to "go" as much as me that's such a pain. I probably could have made it the few hours we were there except I drank a huge cup of coffee on the way just so I could stay awake! Oh well, we still had fun. Here are some pics from the morning.

The guys...

Elijah loved it (except when the waves came up and splashed him in the face). He never figured out to close his mouth. He just kept saying "that tastes bad!"

Elijah had a little trouble keeping his pants up. Its my fault though, I accidentally bought him one size too big swim trunks...

Waiting on a wave...oh the anticipation!

Me and the boys...

Grant missed nap time so we had a little cuddle time...

A shell!!

Beau and Gary playing Frisbee...

Grant and Elijah making a sand castle (actually they're tearing down Beau's castle)...

Elijah with his swim vest on (he and Beau went "deep")...

Baby Sadie with the exact face I usually have at the beach. "I'm all sandy"

Sadie Smooches...

Trying to take a picture with my boy who won't look at the camera. He is smiling and he is saying cheese, I guess looking at the camera is just too much to ask...

Best looking couple on the beach!? I think so!

A short video Aimee shot...
Another big day on the schedule tomorrow! MOM's club in the morning, lunch with the Youth Group, grocery shopping for our Stock Your Freezer party, church, and FREE ROOT BEER FLOATS AT SONIC!!!

More later!

Having fun and getting skinny...or trying to.

Just snapping some pics of the kids while playing in Sadie's room.

Sadie trying out her Bumbo chair...

Elijah, of course, wanted a picture taken of him and Sadie together...

Then he had to try the chair out for himself...

My girl is getting bigger! This is her "is that the best you can do?" look.

After Elijah's very long bath on Saturday night he noticed his pruned hands. He'd never seen that before. It took quite a while for me to convince him everything was okay and it would go back to normal.

I have been working out a lot lately. Last week I went to the gym 4 times. I've been working out as much as I can for about 3 weeks. I wanted to go to Zumba this morning (salsa dancing aerobics class) but it started at 9:15. This is usually the time I'm nursing Sadie. She must have sensed my need to work out and so she did a little unusual feeding schedule last night. She went to be around 10pm, woke up to eat at 5am and then at 8am. So by the time 9 rolled around both kids were fed, dressed and ready to go. I got to Zumba just in time. After Zumba I sat and watched Elijah do Fit Kids. I haven't lost any of the 20 lbs of FAT I gained during my pregnancy, but maybe the silver lining is that I haven't gained any more! Ha! Oh well, even if I'm not getting skinny just yet at least I'm doing something good for myself and it gives me a reason to get dressed and put on deodorant!
We're planning a trip to the beach in the morning with Aimee, Gary and Grant so I should have more pics tomorrow.
