Egg-celent

So we started out with 4 chicks. Then one died. So, of course Beau decided to replace it with four more...of course. A few weeks later we were given 3 full grown chickens...White Rocks to be exact....2 hens and a rooster. We said we didn't want a rooster because of the early morning cock-a-doodling, but we took him anyway with the thought that if he got too annoying we'd turn him into dinner. He's okay so far, he makes a lot of noise when we're outside, but the neighbors don't seem to have a problem with him so he lives to see another day. Having these full grown chickens, though, has sped up our "return". Elijah has gotten the biggest kick out of going to check for and (sometimes) gather an egg a day from our one laying chicken.

Heading out to the farm...
He says "its so fun...its like Easter!!"

See it?...
The chicks are in the house so the chickens have the yard. We haven't made them a nest yet so they just lay anywhere.

Meet Colonel Peck...guarding his future heir.

So proud of his find...

When we walked into the house he asked, "can we take another picture of it?"

After storing the egg I left Elijah in the kitchen while I did some house work. A day or so later I was going through pictures on my camera to blog and found these....
Before..(unorganized)

Admiring his find...

Again.

After (organized)...

His little photo shoot just cracked me up. I love that kid. My little zoo keeper, farmer, gardener, rule keeper. He's the best.
