National Day of Play

Saturday was the National Day of Play. We decided to go to the ranch. We actually left on Friday and Beau drove in from Dallas and met us there. It was us, Jon, Katy, Zac and Heather on Friday night. We put the kids down pretty close to their normal time, but we all stayed up until 2am!!! I was so tired!! I got into bed at 2, Sadie woke up at 3:45 to eat, which woke up Elijah. I finally got him back down around 5 and then again at 6, then woke up to him at 7:30 saying "Mama, the sun is up, you said I could get up when the sun is up". He went onto the front porch and "mooed" at every cow walking by then would yell "Mama, the cow's lookin at me!!" It would have been cuter and funnier if we weren't all so sleepy. They guys made a big breakfast and we had a great time enjoying each other's company.

I think Elijah enjoyed his breakfast!

I know it looks like an optical illusion, but Jon's legs really are that long...

After breakfast the guys also cleaned up. After unloading the dishwasher Jonathan realized the dishes had all been dirty!! After completely backtracking he is almost positive he got all the dirty dishes back into the dishwasher! Ha!

Late in the morning my parents showed up with Brooklyn, Cale, and Katy's parents. We had a great time visiting and eating burgers.

Brooklyn and Sadie...

Brooklyn pulling the boys in the wagon...

I think it was a little harder than she had planned...

Beau pulling the kids in the wagon...

Katy giving the kids a ride on the 4-wheeler...

Beau and Elijah riding Jon's horse, Grey....

Then they talked Jon into giving them another ride on the golf cart...

After lunch we headed down to the river. Mom and Sadie...

Cale had a blow out and we didn't have any diapers. We were a long way from the house and so he just went commando. I don't think he minded...
I know by the look on my mom's face she is tired of talking to me, but I promise that's not what she's thinking (I think)...

Sadie loved it...

Brooklyn and Elijah had a blast building sand castles...

All the guys (except Beau who had to head back early) swam in the river...

Zac was the Ferry...

So was the ranch relaxing? Just ask Sadie...

We were bored

Friday the kids and I were really bored since Beau was gone. He usually has Fridays off and it is like our Saturday. So I decided to take the kids to a park. I found one, but it wasn't that great so we played for a bit then I took them to McDonalds for lunch.

Sadie found the pebbles...

So did Elijah...

He was constantly bringing me special rocks...

Trying to climb up the tires...

I know it looks like he's about to jump, he was really just about to show me his muscles...

Still looking for rocks...

She loved the way they felt...I just had to keep making sure she didn't swallow any...

At McDonalds I got Elijah a Happy Meal (total waste of money). You can now choose apple slices instead of fries so I got that. He loves applesauce, but does not like apples. So Sadie and I shared them...

She loved chewing and sucking on them...

After getting back from McD's I put the kids down and decided to go to the ranch with my family. I'll blog about that later (tons of pics!!).

Snack Attack

I have LOTS to blog about. I'll start with the oldest. I don't know if I'll get to all of it today, but we'll start with the oldest. Thursday morning Beau left around 5:45 am to go to a Youth Minister conference in Frisco. I had to get the kids up, fix breakfast and get Elijah to school. It wasn't that it was particularly difficult, it just really cut into my lounging time that usually happens when Elijah and Beau leave on Tuesday and Thursday morning. Anyway, later that afternoon after I picked the kids up and after naps they both needed a snack. Here's what happened.

This is the face I got when I asked Sadie if she wanted some grapes...

Aimee had this for Grant and I thought it was the most disgusting thing. You put fruit or whatever in it and they can chew on it, but can't choke on the pieces. I got one for Sadie, because even though it grosses me out it really is pretty cool...

Mmmm...this is interest....I think I like it!

Elijah chose a piece of bread and no matter what I tried to offer him to change his mind he still chose the bread...

I wish I could snack on bread and stay this skinny!

I'll get to more later. In other news, our friends, The Braquets welcomed their second daughter yesterday...Gianna! Click on this their blog to the right to see the beautiful baby. Congrats!!

Lazy day with my girl

Yesterday Sadie and I spent the day just lounging around. I had some errands to run, but we were tired and it was rainy so we stayed home. Why were we so tired, you ask? Well, that would be because Elijah was punishing me for some unknown crime by being up during the night. Beau got up with him at 3am to put him back to bed. Then, I got up to feed Sadie at 5am and noticed Elijah's light was on. (note: it was really his lamp next to his bed, but the night before his bulb burned out and I had to replace it. I only had a 60 watt bulb so it was BRIGHT in his room) I opened the door, he was sitting in bed "reading" and said "hi Mama!". I got on to him for being up (but at least he was in bed), turned his lamp off, and left. He got up while I was feeding Sadie. He got up again after I went back to bed, I put him down, then up again after I went back to bed. The last time I got up with him I told him if he didn't go to bed he couldn't go to preschool. That was working for a few minutes, but as I was leaving I heard him say "I don't want to go to preschool, I don't like Mrs. Ginger, Mrs Ginger is bad". Whatever, he loves her. All in all I finally got back in bed at 6:30am and then had to get up at 7:45 to start the day. (he did make up for it by sleeping all night last night though). On top of that it was the kind of day that calls for you to stay inside in your pjs and cuddle on the couch. It was the official first day of Fall and it felt like it, plus it was rainy. So we did.

I got some more shots of my Sugar Plum. Thanks to JoCarol for the super cute lounge-wear....

Just in case you thought the Bitter Beer Face was a one-time deal, its not. I think this is what she'll look like when she's 95 and has no teeth or hair!...

This is better...

Playing with her fairy from Juju...

I realized I need to get some pics of Elijah. He's really funny and makes me laugh every day! He is really in to telling me what to do. As long as he's not rude and its not in a bossy tone I let him. For example: he'll say "I'm going to run fast and you're going to say 'Wow!'" or every time he leaves for preschool he says "You stay here and take care of Sadie!"
I may have sabotaged our Potty Training Scheme. Today I was putting Elijah down for a nap and I knew he wasn't going to sleep, but told him he had to rest. He was wet so I changed his diaper. A few minutes after I walked out he came out and told me he had tee teed in his diaper. I didn't have any more diapers in the house. Sams was out of 4's and I just haven't bought any. I got mad because I'm pretty sure he did it on purpose so I said "We don't have any more diapers" He told me to look in the closet, I showed him the empty box, he said "Maybe Aimee can get me a diaper" I said no she can't, he just has to tee tee in the potty. He said "okay" but in a very "if I have to" attitude. A few hours after that he pooped in the wet diaper, wanted a new one and we told him we don't have any more and put underwear on him. Not really sure what to do about that for tonight (church) and tomorrow (preschool). We'll see.

Baby Blue

Sadie finally got to wear a romper my mom bought her. It is so cute...no wait...she is so cute in it! Girls are so fun!! I couldn't get a good picture of her in it so I'm just posting a bunch of okay pictures. Thanks for the outfit Juju...and thanks for the shoes Amy!

I cannot tell you how cute this girl is!! Well I guess you can see for yourself! Tell me you don't just want to reach thru the screen and kiss those cheeks!

Busy looking at the other babies...

Bitter Beer Face...

Man, I love this girl!

Taught a CPR class this morning and then worked around the house this afternoon. Beau is gone to devo tonight. I'm off to make a "healthy" Chile Cheeseburger Mac (Rachael Ray of course). Hope you all had a great Monday!

Pictures and Parties

We had a busy day today. But before I get into it Elijah and I ran errands yesterday. One of the stops was the party supply store to look for stuff for Elijah's birthday party. Right when you walk in was this huge bear and Elijah wanted his picture taken with it...

Okay, so we left this morning at 9am to drive to Harker Heights to have the kids pictures taken. We drove all that way because that is the closest Portrait Innovations. If you don't know about this place you need to. It is a studio that takes the best pictures for the best prices (so good that we drove 45 mins to get there). I have even talked to customer service to request them opening a store here. We got a ton of pics and the whole CD for $100! We will give out the pics at Elijah's birthday party so I won't post the ones we got till after the party. If you want one or some and can't make it to the party just let me know. These are some that we DID NOT get, but I thought they were funny.
By Elijah's face you would think this is the last of the session, but nope...the first picture! It was a long session. I'm glad there are no video cameras, I did everything short of threatening them, standing on my head and bribing them to get them to smile...
Click on this pic and check out the eyelashes on this kid!...

"Hmmm, this is interesting. Bet I could eat it"...

"Is this face good enough to get y'all to stop and pick me up?"...

Just 'laxin'...

His sophisticated look...

Wow...those are some nice faces...

Probably plotting something against me. "Okay, you poop in your pants and I'll throw up...then they'll have to stop taking our picture!"...

This is one sweet girl! Just looking at it makes me want to go wake her up and gobble her!...

After pictures we drove to Temple to have Janice's Birthday Lunch. We went to a Mexican food place which is great for Elijah. He'll sit there for an hour and dip his chips. He went thru a whole basket by himself! Nutritious!!

I forgot Sadie's high chair cover so she had to manage with a blanket from the car. She did great...
Sadie and the birthday girl...
"Happy birthday to you!"

We went to Mamaw's after lunch for cake and ice cream! It was sooo good. I think I ended up with more gifts than Janice though (mostly for the kids)! We had a great time. Happy Birthday Mimi! We love you!!!
