Family Time

Well, today we had family time. We ran some errands. I got a pattern from Hobby Lobby to make my ugly granny chair a slipcover. I've never used a pattern before and have never sewn more than a straight line, so we'll see how this turns out. We also went to Lowe's, BabiesRUs and Best Buy. We had one more stop on our trip - HEB for some groceries for our dinner guest Sat night. I was getting a horrible headache and Elijah was falling asleep so Beau offered to take us home to take naps and he would get the groceries. I know, so sweet. I thought this was so nice of him, even though every time he goes to the grocery store he comes home with so much extra stuff - always including some sort of meat. Oh well, it was very nice of him. We had dinner and he left for yet another youth group activity. I finally got to watch The Office and Grey's - very good. Now, I have to go finish the ice cream cake for tomorrow night and off to bed. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Elijah Video- Cross your fingers

It's working!!! Its about 6 minutes long, but I worked really hard, so take a coffee break!

Sorry about the video

Well, sorry about the video. No one was able to veiw it. You all said the same thing so don't go rushing out to fix your computers. I don't know what the deal is. I'm trying to get help from the website to see what the problem is. I'll keep trying. I'm open to ideas. I thought about puting it on YouTube, but I know Beau wouldn't like that. So I took some pictures yesterday and this morning instead.

Once again this is what happens whe he's too quiet.

This is for Sharon. Looks like I'm not the only
one getting use out of the cookie cutters.

"Wanna play?"

Watching Veggie Tales this morning so I could
fix breakfast and get dressed.

Doesn't he look so big!?!

Video

I decided that I worked on the video so hard some one should see it. I emailed it to people in my contacts. If you don't regularly get emails from me leave your name and email in the comments (I won't publish them so no one but me will see them) and I'll send it to you.

Video of Elijah

Well after driving all the way over to Best Buy in the rain, spending A LOT of money, spending an hour making a movie, it won't let me download it onto the blog! I've had a bad day. I'm going to go eat a brownie.

Still trying

I'm just about to load up Elijah and head back to Best Buy (in the rain) because I, of course, need yet another something to get movies onto my computer and I can't get it at Wal-Mart. Strange, I know, I thought you could get everything at Wal-Mart! Oh well. I also am trying to find a pattern to make a slip cover for my ugly granny chair. I don't think I'm skilled enough to do this craft so please, if it looks hideous please tell me it looks good, okay? When I get back and after Elijah's afternoon nap I will try and put up a video. Oh, and did I mention I hate Sprint! I have to call every single month because my bill is messed up. I yelled at the girl and asked if they treat all their customers like this and I want to speak to the supervisor! She politely told me the supervisor is busy and will return my call. I'm not holding my breath. I did get their names though and if I have to resort to my "call every 15 mins till I get my money back" strategy I will. (Remember Lowe's anyone?) Oh well, maybe a trip out will cool me off!

He's walking!

Well I will count today as Elijah's official first day of walking! In the last week or two he would only take one or two steps and then today he starting taking more like 6 or 7. We have been standing him up to walk all day and by this evening he is walking across the room! He still can't stand up on his own, but that will come. I think he'll be fully walking in a week or so. I am going to take some video of it and post it as soon as I can. I have to get one part for my video camera and then I'll see what I can do.

We did it!

Drum roll.....

We cut his hair!

Beau really wanted Elijah's hair cut and I thought

I could clean it up without loosing the curls. So

here we go.

We had to turn on Veggie Tales (of course) to

get him to sit somewhat still.

Here is all the hair from the first couple snips.

"Mom, I don't know what you're doing. Isn't that all my hair down there?"

"Oh well, its Silly Songs with Larry!"

Cont.

"Excuse me, but I can't see Larry!"

" I really don't see what all the fuss is about"

There's all the hair.

"I'm a big boy now!"

Now, how could you possibly be upset about us cutting his hair after seeing this picture? And I promise, the curls are still there and we are mullet-free!

What's going on here

Well, a lot of you have voted on whether or not to cut Elijah's hair. One option is to just "clean it up" leave it longer, but all around a little shorter. We may try that. Beau is taking the afternoon off so we can spend some family time together then he has a 5th Quarter tonight here in Alvin. As hard as it is to be married to a youth minister I do have a great husband. Anyway, Tuesday night Beau and I went out to dinner with an out-of-town friend. He wanted to go to Windswept in Oyster Creek. We drove out there, I had to drive b/c Beau couldn't find his wallet (imagine that!). Anyway, if any of you have ever been to Oyster Creek its tiny. We left the restaurant, I pulled out onto the 5-lane highway and headed home. I was going about 55mph and looked around, noticed there were some houses around and I must still be in "town". I hit the brakes, but simultaneously saw a white car coming over the train tracks. As he gets closer I see its a cop and immediately know he is going to stop me. I told this to my passengers and they disagreed because he had kept driving and didn't do anything. Then, when he was almost out of sight I see him turn around and follow me for a few miles. Now I'm going really slow because I can't find a speed limit sign. He finally pulls me over and said all those miles ago I was caught going 56 in a 45. I told him I didn't realize I was still in "town" because I had never been there and he still wrote me a ticket. I just finished defensive driving for my last ticket!! I have been driving since the day I turned 16 (I drove to school in my car that day). I got one ticket a few months after starting to drive for speeding. Since then I never got one. 6 years go by and we move here. We've not even lived here 2 1/2 years and this is my 3rd ticket. Brutal! I was most upset though, because this is the first ticket I've received when I didn't really intend to be speeding. I wasn't in a hurry I just didn't know the speed limit. Anyway, I'm sure it'll cost a lot and now I can't take defensive driving again and then Beau got a parking ticket yesterday! So, please send donations to my address! :) I will try to snap some pics of my baby today and get back to you. Hope everyone is well.

Time to cut his hair?

Elijah and I were at the grocery store yesterday. They were playing music over the loud speaker and Elijah was dancing in his seat. A lady walked by and said, "She's dancing". All I heard was "...he's dancing" and I said "yeah, he's a dancer" she said, "oh, its a boy, I'm sorry, his hair is just so long and curly." I said, "its okay, I'm used to it." So, I'm asking you, is it time to cut his hair? I think it looks fine, but people have been commenting on it. Let me know what you think, look to the left and vote on the poll.

One story I forgot

I forgot a funny story about my boy. I told you in previous posts that Elijah does pretty good while we're away, but you can definitely tell he doesn't like sleeping in the play pin. I also told you that the trip home took 6 1/2 hours. Well, when we got home around 9:30pm Elijah was already asleep and so I just picked him up out of his car seat and carried him to his bed. I laid him down, took his clothes off, put his pj's on and changed his diaper. With all this going on Elijah started to wake up. He barely opened his eyes, looked from side to side, then took in a big breath, smiled a huge smile and stretched his arms up over his head. Then he said a long sentence which I could only translate as, "Thank you Mama, I thought I would never see my own bed again!" I went back to check on him about an hour later and he was asleep and still all stretched out with a big smile on his face. My boy does love his bed. Then when Beau and I went to bed Beau did the same thing and we just started laughing. I guess we know where Elijah gets his bed-affinity from.

Elijah walked?

Last night before church Elijah walked from the loveseat to my chair without holding on to anything. It was about 4 or 5 steps. Beau was in the other room. I yelled for him and we tried to get Elijah to do it again, but no luck. Now I'm even more frustrated because I know he can, but he's still too scared. Oh well. Please don't comment on this and say "he'll walk when he's ready" I'm well aware of that and its getting redundant. :) I'll try to buff up on my video camera skills so I can try to catch it when the really takes off. Well, we're off to the grocery store!

Saturday (cont.)

Saturday we had lunch at Jannie's before we left to come home.

What a cute little cowboy.

Picture time?

That's better. Elijah with Pawpaw and Juju.

We stopped for Mexican on the way home.

It took us 6 and a half hours to get home. We had to stop every couple of hours to let Elijah play and eat. Overall it was a great trip. It was so good to see Jonathan and everyone else. I've been blessed with such an amazing family and we have so much fun when we're together. Please say a prayer for Jon, Katy and Brookie. They fly back to Hawaii on Wednesday.

Our Vacation (Saturday)

Brookie and Ligy. Thats what she calls herself and Elijah

Brook always wants to kiss you on the lips. Elijah seemed uninterested.

He finally gave in. Too cute.

Our Vacation (Thursday)

We left Alvin about 4:45 pm on Tuesday in a whirlwind. We didn't arrive in Stephenville until midnight. Elijah was miserable. He hadn't had a nap all day, but slept most of the way to Stephenville. When we got there everyone was so excited to see him...I mean us. They were playing with him and so I think he got confused and thought it wasn't bed time. He screamed until 3 in the morning. Beau finally had to take him into the garage and let him scream himself to sleep. Very sad. Wednesday we just lounged around and recovered from our trip. Thursday after lunch Beau, Elijah and I along with Mom and Dad and Jon, Katy and Broolynn drove to Dallas to see Zac. We rented a huge van so we could all go together.

The view from the back where Beau and I were.
Elijah is asleep.

When we got to Dallas we went to Cabella's and then to Zac's apartment in Highland Park. We all went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. This is a picture of the shirt Zac got for Elijah with his name and number on it. The front says "SMU Mustangs". Its for Elijah to wear to Zac's game in November.

Its hard being away...

We're in Stephenville for a little mini-vacation. We're here to see Jonathan. I'll be able to post some pictures when we get back, sorry. Anyway, we've been having a good time even though its a little hard being out of our home. Elijah is pretty set on a schedule which is great for home, but can be a little stressful when we're away. I used "the skill" again today.... Elijah + silence = Elijah eating dog food! Yum. Anyway, sorry there have been no posts in a while and sorry no pics this time, but I'll have some good ones when we get back. Please pray for our safe return on Sunday.

A New Buddy

Looks like Elijah found a new buddy for his nap today!

My boy is so sweet. If I lay in the floor and act like I'm crying he will come straight over and give me hugs and kisses. He is very sensitive!

Labor Day Fun

Yesterday we were invited to attend a Labor Day Celebration with the Scogin's. We also surprised Bibbi and celebrated her birthday!! We had a great time.

"A toast to Bibbi!"

After lunch we sat around and watched Zac on ESPN! He's a TV star now. Don't all our boys look so comfortable.

We're not sure why, but Elijah loves to carry things around the house in his mouth. I promise, he really is smart!

Elijah loves his Aimee!!

I've developed new skills

As a mom I've developed the skill of knowing when my son is into something. It doesn't take long to develop this useful skill, I've had it for a while, but thought I would share my findings from it with you this time. A few months ago a couple minutes of silence was a great thing. Now, unless Elijah is sleeping that silence is not a good thing. Here's what happened: Elijah is playing in the living room, Beau and I are talking in the study, things are too quiet, I look around the corner to find this.

"You never said I couldn't dig in the fireplace"

"I'm very sorry for what I did"

"You're not mad at me, are you, Papa?"
