Elijah and The Cross...

After the zoo we stopped by Jacob's Dream again to show Janice and Crystal and I snapped these few pics of Elijah...

The Zoo

Saturday morning we went to the Abilene Zoo with Janice (Mimi) and Crystal. It was a toss-up of who had more fun, between Elijah and Crystal - she hadn't been to a zoo since the 4th grade!

I wish I had video of this. Elijah is running up the hill and screaming "GAFF!! GAFF"

Feeding the "Gaffs"...

This pic is especially for Jan Scogin...she'll know why!!

Beau teaching Elijah about bears...

Elijah and Heidi

After seeing Jacob's Dream we had lunch with Andrea and Heidi. Andrea is a friend of mine from ACU. Her little cutie, Heidi, is 8 months old.

In this pic Beau is trying to explain to Elijah that he shouldn't take toys away from Heidi and yell "mine!"

"So, you're a baby?..."

"Let's kiss!"

Jacob's Dream

Friday morning we went to ACU to see all the new things they've done on campus. This is Jacob's Dream. It was amazing.

You can't see it very well, but carved out of the rocks is "Whoever enters thru the gate will be saved". The rocks have been placed just so that it makes a cross when you read the words. It was very moving. The rock that lays in the path has "stumbling" on it. It was very moving to see the actual "stumbling block" trying to trip you up as you try to get "thru the gate" that is the cross.

They have some weddings at this site. After I snapped this pic of Elijah in the pool a girl was baptized there.

Standing on the Rock of Abraham...

The Backyardigans at The Elegante

This was Elijah yesterday morning while we were getting dressed. I just thought it was so cute. He was really into the Backyardigans and I love that he has his little legs crossed and his head on his chin. Too cute...

The Island on Lake Travis

Tuesday afternoon we got to The Island on Lake Travis. It was really secluded and peaceful. Even thought it was a huge place we didn't see many people at all the whole time. This was the front of the resort...

We spent most of the time in the pool. Sorry the lighting is so bad, it was so bright I couldn't see the screen on the camera so I couldn't tell till we got back inside - sorry. Anyway, these lion fountains were by the pool and Elijah would point to them and say "ion, ion"!

Smelling the pretty flowers...

Elijah would stand at the fence and watch the boats go by...

There are no boats going by....

Elijah is going thru a "I'm not smiling at the camera anymore" phase if you haven't noticed...

On Wednesday night we took a walk outside. We were told we could feed the area deer. We had seen them around the resort and in people's yards, but weren't sure they would really let us get close. Boy were we wrong...
I wish you could have seen Elijah's face in the pic above. He is sooo excited. He has this huge smile. I couldn't get around in front of him because I was scaring the deer.

All during our walk when we would see deer Elijah would wave and say "hi deer!"

Family Self-Portrait

Me and my boy on our balcony...

This pic isn't great of Beau and Elijah, but you can see our great view from our balcony...

Blue Bell

We left Alvin Tuesday morning and drove to Brenham. I had packed a picnic and had found a great park - Fireman's Park with an antique carousel. I had this wonderful vision of us sitting on our blanket in the park and enjoying our picnic while watching Elijah play on the playground. It was beautiful. We pulled into the park and saw a few school buses. Odd we thought, because school won't be out for another week. We turn the corner and see probably 150 elementary kids all over the park grounds. Also, the carousel was closed!! We found a tree (we were running late - no time for a blanket) and had to take turns eating while the other person held onto Elijah to keep him from running off to play with the big kids. He was so excited he couldn't even eat. We quickly ate our lunch and raced back to Blue Bell to make the 1:00 tour. When we got there (at 12:50) they told us they start selling tickets 30 mins early and they had sold out. So we had to get a ticket for 1:30. While we waited we walked around outside...

Old Blue and Elijah

This is a horible pic of me, but Elijah looks so cute in his little hat...
So even though it didn't work out like I had planned (does it ever) we still had a great time! It was probably the ice cream that made all my troubles dissappear!!

Memorial Day

Beau was planting some new flowers in the front yard and needed to water (its so dry in Houston) so we let Elijah play in the sprinkler. He wasn't sure about it, but had fun once he figured it out. He would scream while he ran to it then turn around and run back.

The Spencers and both Scogins came over for lunch. We ate fajitas outside and then sat around and heard all the interesting stories from the "big" Scogin's trip to China. After everyone left I looked at Beau and said "we didn't take a single picture"! I was so upset. I thought about calling everyone to come back, but oh well. We were having so much fun together time just slipped away.

If I've asked you once....

If you leave a comment would you PLEASE sign it. I get comments and have no idea who they came from. I want to make sure we don't have a stalker out there somewhere leaving comments. Anyway, I am at work (don't tell my boss). Hopefully I'll get off soon. Beau is working with the kids and Elijah is at Bibby and John's - living the good life, I'm sure. We have a lot to do this weekend to get ready for our BBQue with the Scogins/Spencers and getting ready to leave for VACATION!!!

Its so funny trying to explain to people that our first family vacation is to Abilene, Tx. I finally started saying, "its not so much about where we're going as what we're doing". We're super excited, though. Please say a prayer for 1) our safety 2) our sanity - please let Elijah sleep while we're gone 3) our bank account - gas was $3.80 this morning and we are driving all over the state!!

I don't know yet if I'll be able to update you live from vacation, if not I'll see you in a little over a week!!

Elijah and Grant

Yesterday I went shopping and Aimee and Grant came with me. We had a good time and I got a couple new things. At first I was feeling shopper's guilt for being out spending money on myself then a few stores into it I thought, "you know, you're supposed to reward yourself with new clothes for loosing a lot of weight and that's the reason I'm shopping". I have lost about 15 lbs and none of my pants fit anymore!!
Then, we were walking thru the mall and I saw an Indian lady "threading" eyebrows. I have been wanting to try it for a long time. I found a little salon that did it, but every time I went by the one girl who knows how was gone. The last time I went by they said she didn't work there anymore. Probably because she was never there!! So, I was really excited that I found some one doing it. It was at a little Kiosk out in the middle of an atrium. Aimee went off to feed Grant and I sat down to get my eyebrows threaded. Now what she does is have you cover your eye with one hand, then use the other hand on your forehead to pull your skin taunt. She takes thread and some how twists it and plucks out about 10 hairs at a time. I'm not ashamed to say that I was yelling very loudly and had to try very hard to keep from screaming curses on her children and their children. At one point I heard a lady come up and ask if it really hurts. If I hadn't been passed out from the pain I would have slapped her. Was I yelling because it felt so good!!?? She told me I may want to keep it down, I was drawing a crowd. I didn't care, I just kept asking the old Indian lady if I was bleeding. She switched to the other side and continued to comment on my incredibly "weird" eyebrows - I do have weird eyebrows - ask me some other time to explain. At one point I flinched and she yelled at me because it was going to mess up "the line". She kept having to stop because she was laughing at me because now my feet were straight up in the air. When she finished she asked it I wanted her to take care of this (pointing to her upper lip). I said heck no, I'm content with my stache!! She told me I should come back in 2-3 weeks and it won't be so bad because the first time is the worst. All I know is its been almost 24 hours and my eyebrows are still sore.

Anyway, when we got home Aimee and Grant came in to hang out a while and we woke Ligy up from his nap. The boys had a great time watching Diego (well, Grant seemed nervous and Elijah just wanted us to move out of the way of the tv).

Side note:

Please post a comment and reassure me that I don't need to be worried by what you're about to see...
