Please pardon my error!

I have been corrected...the green dress in the pictures below that Sadie is wearing was not bought by my mom. Katy and Brooklyn got that dress. Ha! I told Katy I would make sure everyone knew just how good her taste was!

On another note:
Beau told me yesterday he got Sadie to laugh. I knew she was getting close. I haven't heard it yet. I can't wait!

Then tonight I got home from work and he, very casually, tells me Sadie rolled over from her tummy to her back today. It went something like this, "Elijah had ravioli for lunch, the water bill's in the mail and Sadie rolled over." Are you kidding me!!! I said, "That's the kind of thing you call me about and get on the video camera!!" He wasn't as impressed as me. I did get to see this though. I put her to bed tonight on her tummy and went in to check on her later. She was on her back just looking up at me!

I don't have any pictures today, but I will try to get some tomorrow. I'm on my way to bed. I worked today. Its really taking a lot out of me. Its been 3 months since I spent 12 hours on my feet and I can totally feel it. Even more tiring than that is the critical thinking. The most "critical thinking" I've done in the past 3 months is "how long has it been since Sadie ate/pooped/slept? and what would Elijah like for lunch?"

More later.

Match Set

Well, Aimee and I have a special connection. That was proven again this morning. I walked into church after not seeing Aimee for over a week and we were dressed just alike! Both in green shirts and white skirts. I even wore my hair curly today, too! We got asked numerous times if we'd planned it...nope, just good taste.
My girls was just super cute today. I think my mom bought her this dress. I FINALLY got her into some shoes. They are newborns and still kept slipping off, but they stayed on long enough for a picture. Just thought I'd share...

Just another cute pic of my girl. Katy and Brooklyn got this outfit for Sadie, her first ballerina dress...

This last picture is just totally random. I got it off of Katy's blog. Its a picture of my brothers and my dad. They went to see George Jones for Father's Day. I just think they all look so handsome. I love these three men so much!!!

This One's For You, Dad.

I did a bad, bad thing. Saturday afternoon I was waiting for Beau to get home and I was getting Beau's Father's Day gifts ready. All the sudden it hit me, I hadn't done anything for my dad, not even a card. I had been a tad overwhelmed all week with Beau gone and had stressed about making sure I got him a gift, but had totally forgotten about my dad! By this time it was too late to do anything. I called him Sunday and apologized, but I have been so mad at myself for that. He gets one day a year and I blew it. So...this one's for you.

My dad is the biggest goof I know. He always takes "self portraits" on other people's cameras. Luckily this one is of his face and not his nipple like he usually does...

My dad is so loving. I've never known a dad that was so loving with his kids. When we were growing up it was almost annoying at times. But we always knew he loved us. This is Dad and Brooklyn a few years ago. I just love this picture...

I also love this picture...

I don't know what my mom would say, but to me, he is a great husband. My mom has a job she loves in Arlington and so she lives there during the week. My dad drives to see her every Thursday and either drives back Friday morning or stays to do things with her. I know he can't like shopping, but more importantly he loves my mom and wants to spend time with her.
He is so devoted. He was at all our games, competitions and programs.

He's the best "bull" ever...

He's always so willing to help with the kids. He makes it so easy on us when we visit. He's always willing to change diapers, cook, babysit and give baths...

He's the best teacher. He knows EVERYTHING! He's so wise and I know when I ask him a question I'm going to get a good answer. Just beware that his answers just keep going and going and going...

He is so selfless. Every time he comes to visit he always does something to help us out. From putting on a screen door to installing dimmers to pouring a concrete patio...

I love my dad so much. He is the greatest man I've ever known and I know if you've met him you would say the same. Beau reminds me so much of my dad. I'm sure that's a main reason I fell in love with Beau. My dad is the most loving, wise, selfless, giving, smartest (and I'm sure he would want me to say 'handsome') man I've ever known. I love you so much, Dad! Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day morning I got up to feed Sadie around 5:30am. Then I had time to get our Father's Day surprise ready for Beau. I snuck out of the house and went to a close-by donut shop to get some of Beau's favorites, then came home, laid everything out and went back to bed for a few mins before having to get up for church.

The layout before...

Mmmm. Beau's favorites, Apple Fritters and Blueberry cake donuts...

Elijah saying "Happy Father's Day!" to Beau...

The layout after...
Elijah had made the frame with finger painting and the card at Mother's Day Out and I held onto it till Sunday. Sadie and I got Beau the shorts and shirt and the only card at Hallmark that says "Papa" on it. We went to church and came home to another favorite...Pulled Pork Sandwiches, beans and potato salad. It was a great day. Beau is an amazing father, we couldn't ask for anything better. We love you, Beau!

Its not a secret anymore...

No...I'm not pregnant! Ha! We've got some other news to share though. Beau got a new job a few weeks ago at a church south of Waco...Robinson Church of Christ. While we are extremely sad to be leaving our friends here in Alvin we are so excited about being closer to "home". Robinson is about 30 minutes from Beau's family and about 1.5 hours from mine! We are so excited for Elijah and Sadie to get to see their grandparents more than just a few times a year. We will be pulling out of Alvin on July 11th (everything is happening so fast!). We don't have a house there yet (we're going to rent for a while) and we haven't sold our house here yet (wanna buy a house in Alvin?). We hope you'll keep us in your prayers as we go thru this transition.

So, with a move coming up I am trying to "clean out" the pantry/fridge/freezer. Some items I noticed I had that needed to be used were...cream cheese spread, wheat flour, bread flour, bananas and honey. So what do you get when you mix all that? Homemade Bagels!!

While I cooked...Elijah wanted to wear a hat he found in his closet. A little big?

I started with my favorite appliance...the bread maker. I found a recipe for Banana Whole Wheat Bagels. I made the dough in the bread machine. Then I formed them into bagels...
The recipe said it makes 12, but when I shaped them I got 6. Now I know what you're thinking. I was about 10 minutes late in realizing they still had to rise. (I was rushing since Sadie was napping and wasn't thinking clearly). So when I came back 10 mins later they were huge! I didn't want to risk ruining them by reshaping them so I just thought we'd have JUMBO bagels. Then I read on in the recipe. Now I have to poach them? Ok. So I boil my sugar water and drop them in a few at a time. Oh yeah...that makes them rise even more!! Now we have SUPER SIZED bagels! I'm becoming more and more amused with myself at this point...

Then I bake them. Do they rise more you ask? Yes they do. Here is a pic after they're done...
Okay. See the one at the top right? That one's a little bigger than a large one you would buy at a bakery or grocery store. See the one at the top left...bigger than my head!! Ha! They're really good though!
I have lots more to post, but the kids are ready to go down for naps (and I think I am too). I went back to work for the first time yesterday. It was nice to be back, everyone was so sweet saying they'll miss me (even the surgeons who have yelled at me more than once hugged me and told me they would give me recommendations if I needed them!) I hated leaving my Sadie though. She did fine without me (which broke my heart) but I guess its okay. I go back tomorrow and Thursday. Thanks to Bibby and Julie for helping Beau with the kids yesterday. I'll try to post more later today.

The Good, The Bad and The Imaginary

A few things to share before I cook dinner:

The Good - Sadie is doing a few things that make life a little easier. For a few weeks now I have been putting her down for naps and to bed still awake and she is soothing herself to sleep. Its so much better than having to "put her to sleep". Also, she is going to bed earlier. I am feeding her around 8:45 or so and going to bed around 9:30pm. These things are great since I go back to work on Monday and these things make it easier.

The Bad - I only tell you this story to warn you that bad things can happen and please don't let it happen to you (or Sadie). I was getting her dressed one morning this week and went into her room. I laid her on her changing table, realized I hadn't gotten her clothes from the closet. Instead of doing the appropriate thing and picking her up and walking to the closet I left her there (I know, call CPS, such a horrible decision). She is not rolling over yet, but boy can she scoot. I was at the closet (about 3 feet away) for just a second, I turned back around and Sadie had pushed herself backwards, her head was already hanging off the table, one more scoot and she would have gone over the edge head first! I screamed, lunged and caught her by the leg. So scary!! I've always listened to stories of babies being hurt/killed because of stupid mistakes parents make and always thought that could never happen to me, I'm too careful and "aware" to let it happen. But I'll tell you, especially when you throw other kids into the mix your head is sometimes just not there and you make lazy decisions. Anyway, if you happen to watch Sadie any time soon please do not leave her on a bed/changing table/etc without extreme supervision!

The Imaginary - Elijah is going thru a milestone. He is doing a lot of imaginary play. If you think this is not a big deal you're wrong. Its apparently a very important milestone. His latest thing - he came up to me "holding something in his hand" (air) and said "Look, Mom, its my paycheck, its $70! Here, hold it!" I had to act like I was holding it. He would walk away, run back to me and make sure I was still holding it. He also loves to have you sing the "Going on a Bear Hunt" song and walk around "hunting for bears". Too cute.

Better go start dinner.

Ice Cream for Breakfast?

Monday morning we had a MOM's club social to celebrate the new board members coming in and out with the old. Well they wanted ice cream to celebrate and the only time you can be semi comfortable down here is in the morning so we had an ice cream party at 10am!!! See why I like these ladies! They get me! The kids had a great time playing in the water.

"Hey Grant, wanna play a game?"...

"Here it comes!"...

"Isn't that fun!"...
I waited for Grant's reaction before I decided if Elijah would get in trouble or not. Here was the verdict...

And of course, Sadie...

Countdown till Beau comes home...2.5 days!!
The first day or two of Beau being gone are kinda fun. The house is clean, I get to spread out in bed, I watch a movie at night (a girly one), I make all his least favorite/my favorite foods like Spinach, Artichoke, Asparagus Lasagna and Salmon Croquettes (which I just learned the name...we grew up calling them Salmon Patties - somehow Croquettes sounds much more distinguished). However, after about the 2nd day (especially being a single parent) I really want Beau home. I'm off to nap while the kids nap - I'm exhausted.

My Smiling Sadie

Well I don't know if this is normal or not, but things are so different with Sadie than they were with Elijah. With Elijah this is how our evenings would go....Dinner while Elijah hopefully napped, then a bath in his baby bathtub, turn lights and tv down, a massage with lotion (Lavender for calming), then a final nursing, off to bed (as he got older we thru in a book). Not so much with my Sadie. Our evenings now look more like...dinner with Elijah while Sadie hopefully naps (that's pretty much the same), Elijah and I take a shower or he gets a bath, Elijah gets to play a little more, then yogurt for a bedtime snack, then brush teeth, read a book, say our prayers, kisses goodnight. Then I usually sit down to nurse Sadie and remember I haven't bathed her in days. Clear out the sink, wash her off, hurry and put pjs on because she's screaming (remember she's hungry), nurse while Beau and I watch TV or a movie or just talk and go to bed. I'm worried about ever having another one...will they ever get bathed and played with? Anyway, Elijah was a very easy baby. Everyone said the next one would be horrible because that's just how it works...well we have been so blessed - Sadie is even easier than Elijah. She is a JOY!

With Elijah I remember (because I have a scrapbook page devoted to it) his first smile. Sadie, not so much. Not because I ignored her, but because she has been smiling since she was born. I know what you're saying...it was just gas/reflex/whatever in the beginning and I know that, but she did it so much there was no way to mark when her first real one was. The smiles have gotten bigger and gummy-er and I just love them. Here are a few pics from last night.

When I first sat her on the couch. I call this "How dare you sit me down!"

Then you start talking to her and...(Happy fat girl face!) Is that not the cutest double chin!?

My sweet girl...

She and her "future husband", Grant have this in common...(he would always do this when he was younger)...

Elijah, not wanting to be left out of anything wanted to "smile" for the camera...

Sadie is so funny. The other night she was screaming so loud. Beau was holding her and I was getting ready to sit down and nurse. She is just really screaming. He hands her to me, still screaming, I start to unbutton my shirt to nurse, she immediately stops screaming and gets the biggest grin! She seriously knew what was coming!
Okay, I haven't told this story because I know there are some people who read this that may not want to read about "intimate details" or nursing stories or whatever, but this is just too funny. Don't say I didn't warn you though...its graphic! :)
Remember when we went to the zoo last week? Remember how incredibly hot and humid I said it was? Okay...I get home with the kids (Beau's at work). We are all nasty and desperately need showers. It's getting late in the afternoon and I want Elijah to take a nap. I also know I have about 10 minutes before Sadie starts screaming in hunger. So with all that in mind we run in the door and go straight to the bathroom. The plan: Get all three of us into the shower for a wash off. Don't question how I do it...I'm very talented. I get undressed, get Sadie undressed, Elijah is refusing (he rarely acts like a 2 year old -tantrum wise - but of course today is). I am holding Sadie with one arm, have Elijah trapped between my legs (sitting on a vanity stool) and undressing him with my other arm. We are all naked, about to get in the shower. Elijah is crying "I want to poo poo on the potty!" I am like "yeah! lets do cartwheels!" I turn the water off and we all go to Elijah's bathroom for him to sit on his potty and poo poo. (This is the first time he ever initiated using the potty). While I'm standing there waiting on him to poop Sadie starts screaming - she's hungry - I try rushing Elijah - useless (2 year olds have their own time table). If you don't know what happens when your nursing and your baby starts crying go look it up...so THAT is happening. Elijah is not making much progress so I begin nursing Sadie. I look up into the mirror...there I am, naked...holding a naked baby to the breast and in the background is my naked toddler on the potty. I immediately burst out laughing. It looks like a centerfold for Hillbilly Playboy!! And after all that...still no poop! We did all get showers though.

Madeleine's Birthday Party

After the garage sale we had Maddie's birthday party. First we opened gifts - I was really proud of Elijah. He didn't try to open any of her gifts. He sat and watched, even telling her "Happy Birthday" a few times. After gifts we had hot wings and cake, a very interesting, but very tasty combination. Then we let the kids play in the water. They had a blast!

Trying to splash Beau...

This time he went down the slide legs first. The first time he tried head first and ended up under water which surprised him!

Looks like he's having fun to me!

Jahno said Sadie just HAD to get out of her carrier!

Then came time to play on the giant slip and slide...

This morning Beau left really early for Camp Bandina. I am totally not cut out to be a single parent. When Beau's gone it just shows me how much he does. Especially on Sunday morning. I usually wake up and he's got Elijah at the breakfast table and Sadie in his arms. He will have my coffee brewing and sometimes even has breakfast ready for me. While I get ready he dresses Elijah and packs his church bag. I get Sadie dressed and we leave. Not exactly how it went this morning. I got up, got Elijah some oatmeal, kept going back to Sadie's room to turn on her mobile to keep her from crying, tried to put make up on, then Elijah wanted another bowl of oatmeal, Sadie's crying, my hair is not straightening, get Elijah dressed, get Sadie dressed, start to leave, Elijah has poop, change his diaper, notice his shirt is dirty (how did a dirty shirt get hung up?), change his shirt, pack his bag, head for the car, I find an old power bar in a purse and that gets to be my breakfast on the way to church! Boy do I miss Beau!

Garage Sale

Saturday Aimee and I had a garage sale. It went okay. We had to close shop a little early and had a lot of "big ticket items" so we didn't do as good as we wanted but still both made around $75. I think its so funny that we've had a garage sale every summer for the past 4 years and every time one of us has been pregnant! We definitely cannot continue this tradition! Especially since next summer would be my turn again!! Ha!

Just in case a good offer came along! :)
